Sunday School: Sunday, 10 AM

Christian education is where we build our Bible knowledge through study, sharing and fellowship. Traditional courseware, from the United Methodist Church, enables Sunday morning discussion around current events and situations using Bible teachings and study guides. A non-traditional class uses multi-media options for extemporaneous discussion. Guided by prayer and introspection the classes encourage sharing of personal concerns and joys experienced during the week. EMUMC Facebook page posts weekly BL4Y (Bible Lessons for You) to generate interactive discussion and thoughts for the week. Greeters are available to welcome you on Sunday morning and will introduce you to fellow knowledge seekers. Doors are open early; come join us. All are welcome!

“Sunday School is like an interactive worship service. We have a scripture reference, an application for today and a lesson with questions. The questions involve the whole group with each person bringing their different backgrounds and perspectives into the discussion. Sometimes the questions evoke memories of past members with their response of “well that’s a good question.” Sunday school is a great way to become involved and stay connected to scripture and one another. It’s a great reason to come to church and a great way to start your day!”

Worship Service: Sunday 11 AM

Worship is central to the life of East Marion United Methodist Church. We extend an open invitation to you with the hope that you find meaning, comfort, and hospitality while you are with us.    At EMUMC, worship combines instrumental music and hymns with the best elements of a traditional Methodist service.   Led by our Pastor, Philip Tate, you’ll experience inspirational worship through the celebration of the traditions of our faith, the reading of scriptures, fellowship, music, prayer, and a relevant message—all inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Our lives are defined by individual worship throughout the week and we celebrate that bond together when we worship as a community of believers each Sunday.  The Pastor’s message is founded upon Bible teaching and insights with everyday life, to recognize the grace God has granted, and how as Christians we can be a blessing to others.

Since we want everyone to feel comfortable at EMUMC, you will see people dressed up and people in casual clothing. We welcome people as they are, wherever they are in their life’s journey. We’re all seekers for God’s truth through the guidance offered by Jesus Christ.

Come worship with us on Sunday at 11:00 A.M. All are welcome!

Vespers: Wednesday, 5:15 PM

Vespers is early evening Bible study and prayer time. If you, like us, are seeking spiritual enlightenment and insight, come and join us. The course of study is selected by the Pastor and covers several weeks. Study topics have included concentration on a chapter of the Bible, using different versions and a Bible Commentary to further our understanding. We have also selected focused multi-media study options, using video and study books. The objective is to expand our understanding of the Bible and to apply Bible teaching to our everyday lives. Prayer is an integral part of the mid-week gathering. We share prayer needs expressed to us or experienced by us and take them to our Lord in petition and gratitude.  Come with an open heart, a desire to learn, and we’ll study the Lord’s Word together.

"Vespers is a place to study the Bible, fellowship with our members and visitors here at East Marion United Methodist Church. We discuss the books of the Bible, our minister, Rev. Philip Tate, does a wonderful job in teaching the Bible and goes into this study with great information he has found in other books than the Bible. It is a joy to study the Bible with others. Anyone and everyone is invited to come to Vespers. It is a great study!"

Choir: Wednesday 6:15 PM

Music is an important part of worship at EMUMC and all are welcome to participate in the choir.  Our goal is to share the love of God by lifting voices in praise.  When we sing, share our joys and concerns and pray together, we feel closer to Him. Periodically, individuals or groups provide special music during worship – instrumental or voice. We wholeheartedly invite you to share your musical talent and help us make a “joyful noise unto the Lord.”

“To me, Choir practice is more than singing. It's a Worship Service. Yes, we sing. We Worship. We fellowship. We Pray. We discuss the needs of people.”

Holy Communion: Quarterly

United Methodists practice open communion, meaning all at worship are invited to partake. The church proclaims that the table of Holy Communion is Christ’s table. The table is open to anyone who seeks to respond to Christ’s love and seeks to lead a new life of peace and love. At East Marion United Methodist Church, we celebrate Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, or Eucharist (Great Thanksgiving), quarterly.

Homecoming - Annual

East Marion United Methodist Church celebrates Homecoming the second Sunday of October. Homecoming is a day specifically set aside for friends and family from near and far to come to their ‘home’ church for a day of worship, prayer, celebration, and fellowship. With a history spanning over 100 years, East Marion United Methodist roots run deep and far!

On Homecoming Sunday arms and hearts are open in welcome and thanksgiving for God’s blessings. Following a robust 11 AM Worship Service a meal, provide by our Church members, allows us to break bread together and fellowship through shared memories.

Jesus said, “Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”
